A native Houstonian, Mark Lee is Deputy General Counsel – Tax, in the Legal Department of American General Life Companies, and is responsible for providing tax legal advice to the company’s profit centers. Other career highlights of note include serving as the Manager in the Office of Federal Tax Services at Andersen LLP; general practice in the Law Office of Harry Gee, Jr., with emphasis on tax controversy, tax planning, estate planning and corporate matters; and a Tax Attorney in the Research and Planning Section of Tesoro Petroleum Corp. Mr. Lee holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin, and a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the United States Tax Court and the Houston Bar Association. Mr. Lee is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Houston Certified Public Accountants Society. Mr. Lee is an active member of his community and has leadership roles in several charitable and non-profit organizations, including American Leadership Forum, Asian American Heritage Association, Association of Chinese Organizations, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Career and Recovery Resources, Children At Risk, Chinese Baptist Church, Chinese Professional Club, CPC Scholarship Fund, Inc., Downtown Kiwanis Club and Foundation, Holocaust Museum of Houston, Houston Media Source, Marilyn Estates Civic Association, SPARK School Park Program and the United Way.
