The 40th anniversary running of the Chevron Houston Marathon and its companion Aramco Houston Half Marathon and El Paso Corporation 5K will take place on Sunday, January 15, 2012 and will be nationally televised.

The road to the 2012 Olympic Marathon in London will run through Houston. For the first time in the history of the U.S. Olympic Trials, one city will host the marathon for both men and women in the same year.

The 2011 Summer National Senior Games presented by Humana will be held in Houston June 16-30. An estimated 15,000 athletes, 50 and older, will compete in more than 800 events at a dozen venues in the area. Seven events, including the largest indoor tennis competition in history, will be held in the George R. Brown Convention Center, the headquarters for the Games.
