HOUSTON – Officials within the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) have announced that the College Expo will continue as a featured event in conjunction with the 2014 Toyota SWAC Basketball Tournament. The expo will be hosted in the 1994-1995 Champions Room at Toyota Center from 9am-7pm on Thursday, March 13, featuring recruiters, admissions counselors, and alumni from all SWAC member schools.
Access to the College Expo is free to all prospective students, and attendees are asked to enter the Toyota Center from the entrance located off the corner of Polk St. and Jackson St. In addition, parking is free to the first 500 cars that park in the Tundra Garage from the LaBranch entrance to attend the expo.
As an added incentive, all students who apply for admission to one of the SWAC universities while at the expo will have the application processing fee waived. Scholarships could also be awarded on site, and attendees are asked to bring their official high school transcript and any available standardized test scores to be eligible for consideration.
“In 2013, a young lady qualified for a Presidential Scholarship at the College Expo in Garland, Texas and hundreds of students were considered for college admission,” SWAC Commissioner Duer Sharp said. “We are happy to bring this opportunity to students in the Houston area, and this year, we hope to see thousands of students at the expo.”
Tickets to the 2014 Toyota SWAC Basketball Championship are available online at www.houstontoyotacenter.com, on the phone at 1-866-446-8849, or in person at the Toyota Center box office.
