Joseph Alan Callier

Board of Directors
Joseph Alan Callier was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority for a two-year term on August 27, 2013. Joseph is a native Houstonian who graduated from James Madison High School, before receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rice University, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Texas. Joseph is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Prior to forming the law firm of Callier & Garza, L.L.P., he was an attorney in the Legal Department of the City of Houston.
Joseph is a frequent author and speaker at continuing legal education seminars. His professional memberships include the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Lawyers Association, the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists (he is a former President), the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel and the American Board of Trial Advocates-Advocate. He is licensed to practice before the U. S. Supreme Court; the U. S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit; the U. S. District Court, Southern District of Texas; the U. S. District Court, Eastern District of Texas; the U. S. District Court, Northern District of Texas; and the U. S. District Court, Western District of Texas.
With respect to public/community activities, Joseph was appointed by Governor George W. Bush to the Texas Judicial Council in 1997 and served until 2008; received the Houston Bar Association 2007-08 President's Award for service as Co-Chair of the Adopt-A-School Committee; and was honored by "Let The Fashions Begin" as one of its 2011 "Men of Style" (fundraiser for Texas Children's Hospital Sickle Cell Center). Joseph is a Life Member of the Association of Rice University Black Alumni; Life Member of the Rice University "R" Association (he is a former President); and a Life Member of the Texas Ex-Students' Association.
