Chevron Houston Marathon - Aramco Houston Half Marathon and EP5K

The Chevron Houston Marathon will hold its annual 26.2, 13.1 and 3.1 mile run in downtown Houston on January 13, 2008.  The Chevron Houston Marathon, a Running USA founding member, is the nation’s premier winter marathon, annually attracting participants from all 50 U.S. states and more than 30 foreign countries. The marathon has been ranked the fourth most crowd-supported marathon by Ultimate Guide to Marathons and second best marathon overall (out of 54 marathons nationwide) by the running magazine, "Marathon & Beyond".  More than 200,000 spectators line the course and 5,000 volunteers help organize the race, which is Houston's largest single-day sporting event.  In addition to the actual runs, participants and spectators can also attend the Roger Clemens Institute EXPO Friday and Saturday of marathon weekend at the George R. Brown Convention Center.  This free, two-day sports and fitness EXPO features exhibitors displaying and selling the latest in health and fitness products and services, as well as numerous health and running related seminars.  More than 25,000 participants are expected to attend the Chevron Houston Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k run, which will bring approximately $24.3 million to the local economy.  More information is available online or 713-957-3453.
