Transplant Games of American and Donate Life Take Part in NHRA


HOUSTON – The Donate Life Transplant Games of America and Donate Life Texas will be featured at the NHRA race this weekend at the Royal Purple Raceway.  Over 45,000 fans are expected to attend the race days from Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27.

Fans who visit the Transplant Games/Donate Life promotional booth will have the opportunity to sign up for the Texas organ donor registry, pick up Donate Life key chains and bracelets, and learn about the Transplant Games of America 5K Run/Walk that is open to all community participants.

Throughout the state of Texas, over 13,000 people are currently waiting for an organ or tissue transplant while over 118,000 patients across the country are waiting for the potentially life-saving gift.  Anyone interested in learning more on organ donation or signing up for the donor registry can visit

The Transplant Games of America ® is a biennial event held in the United States to recognize the accomplishments of individuals whose lives have been affected by eye, organ, and tissue donation.  This festival-style event brings athletes, living donors, and donor family members together to promote awareness of the life-changing impact that donation represents today.  Teams from virtually every state compete is a variety of sporting and non-sport competitive events to demonstrate how their lives have been changed through the gift of life as a result of organ, eye, and tissue donation.  The 2014 Donate Life Transplant Games of America ® will be held in Houston, Texas from July 11 through July 15, bringing together over 6,000 participants and supporters from across the country.

The NHRA is the largest motorsports sanctioning body in the world and is drag racing’s representative in international motorsports through its membership in the Automobile Competition Committee for the United States (ACCUS).  More information can be found at
