Chau Nguyen

Director - City Position 2

Board of Directors

Chau Nguyen moved to the United States and to Houston, Texas when she was just two years old. She and her family were among the first wave of Vietnamese immigrants in the mid-1970s to settle in Houston. Decades later, Chau remains proud to call Houston home. Chau is best known by many in the community for her 15-year television news career, reporting and anchoring most recently with KHOU TV. She is the first Vietnamese American to receive an Emmy Award for her documentary series covering a medical mission in Vietnam. In 2007, the Houston Press named her reporter of the year. Chau retired from television news in 2007 but remains active in the Asian American community, serving on the board of Asian American Family Services and frequently emceeing for countless charity agencies. With a new focus on giving back and helping others, she is also a licensed Master Social Worker, currently working as Manager of Community Involvement for The Women’s Home.

Chau holds a Masters of Arts in Social Work from the University of Houston and a Bachelors of Arts in Communications from the University of St. Thomas. She is an avid recreational athlete, completing a full Ironman distance race and eight marathons.
