Matthew Rogers, Jr.

Director - City Position 4

Board of Directors

Matthew “Matt” Rogers, Jr. was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana and moved to Houston at a very early age.  He is a product of the Houston Independent School District where he attended M.C. Williams Junior-Senior High School.  Matt graduated from Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Health Science in 1988.  He met his wife, Angela, at Texas Southern University while in Pharmacy School, and after a three-year courtship, they married in 1987.  After years of working with Walgreen's, Matt decided that he wanted to open his own pharmacy and become an entrepreneur.  In 1995, he opened the Power Center Pharmacy in Southwest Houston.  Initially, Angela was a bit hesitant; however, after a year, she left her position as a Walgreen’s pharmacy manager, and the two have worked hand-in-hand for 16 years, standing on their motto, “Bridging the Gap between Good Pharmacy Service and Great Customer Satisfaction.”  They have since opened a second pharmacy in Southeast Houston on Scott Street.

Matt was recognized for his contributions as Outstanding Alumni in 1999 by Texas Southern University’s College of Pharmacy, and the Circle of Friends in the battle against HIV and AIDS in 2004.  He was the recipient of the Light Within All Award presented by the Houston Sun magazine in 2011 and was also honored once again as Distinguished Alumni in 2011 by his alma mater.  He is also a proud member of the TSU College of Pharmacy Alumni Chapter and the National Community Pharmacists Association. Matt is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership. He started the Matthew Rogers, Jr. Scholarship Endowment at Texas Southern University to help deserving students pursuing careers in pharmacy.

Matthew Rogers, Jr. is an active member of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church, where he sings with the Worshipping Warriors' male choir.  He and Angela have three children:  Matthew III, Anna Marie, and Michael.
