Following adversity, MJ Daffue turns hard work into week to remember

Jul 20, 2020

It was a week to remember.

Sitting at the table next to Justin Thomas at lunch. Walking onto the driving range and staking out his place in the best field he had ever played in — one with more than half of the world’s top 50. At Jack’s place. Muirfield Village. A course he’d seen so many times on TV.

A locker room filled with elite players just going about their weekly routine, doing their jobs. Guys like world No. 2 Jon Rahm and defending U.S. Open champ Gary Woodland.

Throwing out a 63 in Monday qualifying. Hitting it to 24 inches for birdie to finish the weather-delayed second round Saturday morning and make the cut. Following that with the low third round of the tournament — a 65.
