HOUSTON TO HOST 2021 BMX LONE STAR NATIONALS

HOUSTON, Texas – The USA BMX Lone Star Nationals are headed back to Houston.

For the third time in three years, the nation’s best riders will fill Rockstar Energy Bike Park October 22- 24, 2021 to compete at every different level from 6&Under through Vet Pro and Elite. It will be the last chance for riders to earn points leading into the USA BMX Grand Nationals/Race of Champions in Tulsa, Okla., November 26-28, 2021.

Rockstar opened to rave reviews back in the summer of 2019 and hosted more than 1,000 riders two months later in its first major event, the 2019 USA BMX Nationals. The park was due to host the 2020 UCI BMX World Championships last May, but the event was canceled due to the global pandemic.

The 2021 BMX Lone Star Nationals will be the first major event at the park since last spring’s shutdown.

“We are so pleased to be chosen to host our third Lone Star Nationals at Rockstar Bike Park in three years,’’ said Janis Burke, CEO of the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority. “The track was built with some guidance from USA BMX to ensure the community could benefit greatly if the dollars were invested in such a project.

“We’re thankful for the partnership with North Houston Development Corporation Sally Bradford’s vision to build what is known as the premier bike park in the nation. The park’s reputation among riders is second to none, which allows us to bid for these premiere national events.’’

Added John David, Chief Strategy Officer of USA BMX, “USA BMX is thrilled to host the final national race of the 2021USA BMX National Series in Houston with the Lone Star Nationals. Rock Star Energy Bike Park is one of the best BMX facilities in the world and our hosts, the North Houston Development Corp and the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority, will provide an amazing experience for our attendees from around the world.”
