Harris County – Houston Sports Authority and The Chevron Championship Hosting the 2024 Chevron | Sports Authority Foundation Golf Classic

HOUSTON, TX –The Harris County – Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) is excited to announce its partnership with The Chevron Championship in hosting the 2024 Chevron | Sports Authority Foundation Golf Classic on Monday, April 22.

This extraordinary golf event will provide golfers with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play on the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Club at Carlton Woods a day after a LPGA major champion is crowned. 

“We are thrilled to partner with The Chevron Championship for this year’s golf outing,” said John Coppins, Harris County – Houston Sports Authority Senior Director of Events. “Both of our organizations’ steadfast commitment to the advancement of educational opportunities in our community through sporting events made partnering around this historic LPGA major championship a no-brainer.” 

Proceeds from the tournament will go towards supporting scholarship opportunities for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Both Chevron and the HCHSA are dedicated to the advancement of education and helping create a brighter future for deserving students. 

“These experiences around the tournament extend our shared goals with the LPGA to elevate women and create access and opportunity on and off the course,” said Al Williams, Chevron Vice President of Corporate Affairs. “We recognize that golf is a great uniter and creates a platform to showcase great talent, but more importantly, to showcase the possibilities that golf can provide young girls and women to be future leaders.”

The Chevron Championship has a long-standing tradition of hosting world-class golf tournaments, and this collaboration with the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority further solidifies the dedication of both organizations to promoting the sport and supporting the local community.
