HOUSTON – The Harris County – Houston Sports Authority, the Houston Astros, and Houston First Corporation hosted a delegation from the World Baseball Classic on Thursday as the city hopes to land the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

As part of their official site visit, the group toured Minute Maid Park to get a better understanding of what the facility has to offer.

During their stay, the WBC delegation met with Houston Astros owner Jim Crane, members of the HCHSA Board of Directors, representatives of several Consul General offices and officials from various Chambers of Commerce that call Houston home.

Former Astro Enos Cabell took part in the lunch reception held at the Gallagher Club inside Minute Maid Park. After the ballpark, the group met with coaches and players from the Astros Urban Youth Academy who were gathered at Discovery Green playing catch.

The World Baseball Classic was first played in 2006. The dates and times for the 2026 event are yet to be determined.
