About Jenny Mutz:

Jenny Mutz has been a competitive wheelchair athlete for more than two decades. She is a two-time Paralympian competing at the 2004 and 2008 Paralympic Games. In Beijing in 2008 she competed in the Women’s 100m, 200m, and 400m. At the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games, she placed fifth overall in the Women’s T54 1500m final and was the first U.S. finisher and broke the U.S. record that year with a time of 3:29.27. 

In addition to track events, she has also competed in wheelchair road racing and wheelchair basketball. In 2005 she traveled to Manchester, England as part of the U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Team to compete in the IPC World Cup. 

After completing the 2004 Paralympic Games, she enrolled in the Rehabilitation Counseling program at the University of Arizona. She received her master’s degree in May 2007 and worked as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor in Tucson, Arizona. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Arizona. She worked as an Academic Advisor for Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas from 2014 to 2021. She also taught a course at Lamar University called “Social Work and Sports” in the Spring of 2020 and again in the Spring of 2021. 

Jenny currently lives in The Woodlands, Texas with her husband Kyle and dog Bella. She works for the University of Houston as an Academic Advisor with the Hines College of Architecture and Design.
